Ask Dr. Ezeugwu – Faith – #YourHealth

Expect Quality, that’s what we stand for!!

ASK DOCTOR EZEUGWU | July 21, 2016

DEAR DOCTOR EZEUGWU: Can my Faith affect my healing from sickness and disease?

DEAR PATIENT: Absolutely, Yes!! ….How? You may ask; Because your Faith is dependent on your thoughts and beliefs!

How you think about your illness impacts your healing process.  When your thoughts are predominantly negative, your healing process is hampered.  For an instance, even when your doctor has prescribed the right medicine for your illness, you will very likely not take the medicine, especially, if you have no faith in the doctor or the medicine. You may develop some unusual fear about taking the medication. You may even begin to avoid seeing the doctor altogether.  In fact, treating a patient who has no faith in the doctor or medicine is very difficult.  You should know that when it comes to your healing, from any sickness or disease, there is no doctor or man-made medicine that is more powerful than your Faith. Remember what Jesus said to the woman with issue of blood, “Be of good cheer, daughter; your faith has made you well.”  (Matthew 9:22, NKJV) #Ask Dr. Ezeugwu.

DEAR DOCTOR EZEUGWU: My husband’s snoring affects my sleep at night.  Should I be worried?

DEAR PATIENT: Yes!  Obviously his snoring is already preventing you from getting a restful sleep at night.  A restful sleep is vital for all of us.  Poor sleep can affect our body in many ways and can lead to many medical conditions including irregular heart rhythm, uncontrolled blood pressure, poor exercise capacity, breathing problems, mood disorder and poor mental state etc. You should also know that snoring can be a marker of a medical condition called sleep apnea.  People with sleep apnea are prone to many medical problems that can be treated or prevented by appropriate diagnosis and treatment.  Encourage your husband to ask his doctor for a sleep study test.  This test will help to determine if he has sleep apnea.  In this way he will get the appropriate diagnosis and treatment for the benefit of both of you. #AskYourDoctor.

DEAR DOCTOR EZEUGWU: Should I continue to take my blood pressure medications even when my blood pressure “number” is normal?

DEAR PATIENT: In most instances, the answer to this excellent question is YES!!   Remember that high blood pressure (Hypertenson) is a systemic illness that can damage many of your organs including the brain, eyes, heart, kidney etc. It is not just a “number” game! Many of the medications that you are receiving for the treatment of your blood pressure are designed to control the “number” and help protect your organs from damage. It is therefore imperative that you consider these benefits before stopping your medications.  Furthermore, it may be that your blood pressure may have become “normal” because you are taking the medications.  My advice – Ask your Doctor before you stop your blood pressure medications.
